In short

Kapwing's free plan exports with a watermark, at 720p and up to 4 minutes per video; removing the watermark takes Pro, from $16 a month billed annually (October 2026). Vaideo Editor exports MP4 up to 1080p for free with no watermark on the footage you upload, and Vaideo's AI creates narrated videos from a topic or an article, with 1 free video a day and one-off packs from €5. Kapwing still wins on AI tools for your own footage (auto-subtitles, dubbing, silence removal, clips), templates, transitions and team collaboration.

Why people look for a Kapwing alternative

Kapwing is a very complete browser editor with plenty of AI tools, but its free plan is limited: according to its pricing page, it exports with the Kapwing watermark, at 720p, with videos up to 4 minutes long, a maximum of 30 exported minutes a month and projects kept for only 3 days. Removing the watermark means moving to Pro.

Kapwing also runs on credits: AI features such as auto-subtitles or text to speech use up credits every month. People who just want to cut, join and export a clean video, or post narrated videos now and then, look for something that doesn't make them subscribe just to remove a watermark.

Where Vaideo wins

Vaideo Editor also runs in the browser, and what you upload (clips, audio, images) exports with no watermark on any plan. MP4 export up to 1080p is free, and the free account lets you upload files up to 2 GB. It covers the basics well: video, image, text and caption layers, audio tracks, split with S or Ctrl+B, trim, “Close gaps”, speed from 0.25x to 4x keeping pitch, colour, volume up to 200 % with fades, and 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 canvases.

The other half is the AI. You type a topic or paste an article URL, and Vaideo writes an original script, narrates it with an AI voice in English or Spanish, adds images from Unsplash, Wikimedia Commons or AI-generated, animates them with zoom and pan and burns in the captions, with 10 visual styles. “Open in the editor” brings it into separate tracks to fine-tune. You can pay only for the videos you need: 5 for €5, 15 for €12 or 40 for €25, with no expiry.

Where Kapwing still wins (and when to stick with it)

Kapwing has many more tools than Vaideo Editor: auto-subtitles for your own video and translation into 60+ languages, dubbing, silence removal (Smart Cut), audio cleanup, background removal, a clip maker that turns a long video into short clips, hundreds of transitions, templates, a stock library, brand kits and real-time collaboration. Vaideo Editor does none of that: captions on your own videos are added by hand, there are no templates, transitions, effects or music, and it doesn't clip long videos automatically.

If you work in a team, edit interviews or podcasts, or need captions and dubbing in many languages, Kapwing Pro is worth it. If you want to edit and export without a watermark and without paying, or create narrated videos in English or Spanish without filming, Vaideo is the better fit. Tips that make the difference

  • ★If you have a project in Kapwing, export it as MP4 before it expires (the free plan keeps projects for 3 days) and keep editing in Vaideo Editor.
  • ★Since there are no transitions, cut on pauses or shot changes and add 0.3-0.5 s audio fades so the cuts sound smooth.
  • ★For long captions on your own video, set the global style first and then type the text: it saves a lot of time.
  • ★If you need a voiceover, the editor's “AI Voice” generates the voice and synced captions in one go.
  • ★For narrated videos from scratch, generate with the AI first and fine-tune in the editor; it's much faster than building by hand.
